CLARION
New York, USA,
2001
When
editor Peter Hogness took over, Clarion, the newspaper for
professional staff at New York's City University (CUNY), looked
very stale and outdated.
His
brief to Tony Sutton was to produce a paper that reflected the
professional standing of his readers, but with the edge that you'd
expect from a hard-hitting union publication.
The
typefaces, all developed in collaboration with NDA associate Nick
Shinn, include a reworking of DIN, an 'industrial' sans for news
pages, with the more elegant Walburn for features.
The
title is Griffith Gothic Black, from Boston's Font Bureau.
